Year 5 had a fantastic time at Butser farm learning about life in the Saxon era. They had a go at an archaeological dig, reading Saxon runes, creating their own Saxon inspired jewellery, and using freshly dug clay to make Saxon models. We talked about the Saxon invasion around a campfire and heard the story of Odin's missing eye inside a replicated Saxon house. The highlight of the day for many of the children was our wonderful tour guide Adrian, who made the whole day exciting and immersive.

"I really liked making the rings, I want to wear it to school!" Maisie.

"My favourite part was the war chant!" Oliver.

"I want to go back! It was so much fun!" Abigail.
